Comments:

This was my first time putting any serious effort into a contest. My goal was to
try and get as close to DXCC in a weekend as I could...only wound up with 65
countries total across all bands. Didn't make it, but I'm a lot closer than I
was! Thanks to all the outstanding ops, especially the two in eastern Russia
who hung in there with me through fading propagation to give me a new DXCC
entity (and multipliers)

A couple particular things I learned:
1) This is a great way to get a hands on education about propagation.
2) Found out if you stay up till 2 in the morning you can hit ZL and VK on
20m.
3) Learned how to use ALL the filters on my rig. Actually, found out there are
some adjustments in there I didn't even know about..
4) Fast AGC + RF Gain down + AF Gain up can really help to pull a weak one out
of the noise, and kill nearby adjacent strong signals.
5) It's a good idea to check your headset and footswitch BEFORE the contest...
6) My 30 ft high 40m OCF will tune on 10 and 15 without anything burning up
(yay!)
7) I *really* need to get that hexbeam I bought at Hamcation put up before the
next contest!

Funniest thing was listening to K3LR during the last 2 minutes or so before the
end...pileup, pileup, pileup, pileup...silence. When it's over, it's over!

Looking forward to next time!
