Comments:
CQ WW DX RTTY contest took place on 4O3A (with a special call this year: 4O10A)
»superstation« location on Obosnik hilltop in Montenegro. IARU's YCP (Youth
Contesting Program) gives young hamradio operators the chance to operate on
world-known stations with help from experienced operators, who are eager to
teach them what they need to learn about RTTY contesting. Mentors, S52X Tadej,
S50XX Kristjan and Miloš S53X, were on location early to prepare and teach
every one of the participants how to operate the RTTY contest on 4O3A Ranko's
amazing station. They organised the time schedule fort the contest, motivated
youngsters and even prepared delicious meals though the time of the contest.
Yougsters were from four IARU R1 state members: Serbia (YU5EEA, YU3AWA),
Slovenia (S57BM), Croatia (9A5LEA) and Bosnia (E79AA, E73CRK).
One year ago YCP also took place on this location and participants learned as
much as mentors could teach them. The score was very good with a second place
standing in Multi Two All Bands High power category.
This year was better in many ways, even the weather was sunny all the time HI.
Station equipment was also updated this year. New Flex radios were introduced
to yougsters with very positive feedback.
And the results of everything the youngsters learned, new radios, motivation
and excellent teamwork was one of the top standings in MultiTwo All Band High
power category in the world.
With so much better results than the year before it's sure to know that next
year will be even better. Every one of the participants in this year's IARU
Youth Contesting Programme went home with a smile on their face and a wish to
participate again on 4O3A's location next year.
