Comments:

Since my Flex 6700 is still being repaired (one month and counting), I was SO1R.
I started out on 20 Meters, and conditions were very good. Tried to jump down to
40 Meters around 2300Z, but things were slow, so headed back to 20 for the next
few hours. Went down to 80 a few times, but never heard anyone in the contest,
just the usual "colorful characters". Wound up back on 40 for the
last few hours, but the static crashes were brutal. If I mangled your call,
name or state, I apologize - this contest is going to have a lot of busted QSOs
for me, I fear. 

At least I managed to operate almost the full time allowed. SteppIR DB36 is an
amazing antenna on 40 and 20 M. I heard and was heard by stations that I used
to never work with 100 W, so that's great. Unfortunately, it also seems to
magnify the noise of thunderstorms on 40 M. Switching to the dipole reduced the
noise, but also the signals, and I had a hard time being heard to the east
(dipole fires pretty much NNE/SSW).
