Comments:

All search-and-pounce, given my modest antennae, a struggle. From here, 20
meters was dead until the contest started, but even then there were many weak
signals amidst the occasional 589 standouts. Tried 15 meters but only heard and
worked three. Late afternoon I switched to 40 meters and did better, but by then
it had become long. Reaching the western states with 100 watts took several
calls. After a dinner break, I hay-wired my 40m/30m dipole combo together,
tuned it down to 1:1 on 80 meters with the antenna tuner, and did fairly well
until around 2130, when the band had grown long and stations began to have
trouble hearing me. At 10 p.m. EST I threw up my hands and pulled the plug.

Equipment:
Icom 7410
Cushcraft R6000 20-6m vertical
40m/30m inverted vees (tied together for 80m)
