Comments:

This is a nice contest, spread out in multiple segments so you can sleep and
have a life. What's more, they spread out the certificates, too, all over the
world, keeping it from being only a European contest. Other Eurocentric
contests could take note, especially the DL-DX RTTY coming up which has the
same sponsor - go figure.

I went for the six hour category, but I should have front loaded my time more,
concentrating on the first two segments. The goal was to optimize my use of
both 40m and 20m given my location and the segment time breakdowns. I made
notes and will make a course correction next year.

15m was probably open more than we thought. The most productive way to find out
is for SO2R stations to call CQ on 15m (and maybe 10m) when they need something
for the 2nd staton during to do during slow times. It's not productive for SO1R
stations to go to there and do a lot of CQing into the void, but the SO2R
contingent could do it conveniently to create some spots and stir up some
activity.

I don't call CQ much, only 26% of my contacts were from CQing, but I do run
some to try to pick up purely S&P stations. The shack was very hot so
after one extended run the 6500's high speed cooling fan came blasting on for
the first time ever since I've owned the rig. It was so loud it scared me. I
already had a powerful external fan blowing on the transceiver, but it wasn't
enough, clearly. I decided my run was over for the moment since it wasn't
producing much anyway. The grapes were sour.

Thanks for all the meteorological summertime QSOs.

Ken, AB1J
