Comments:

Entered this contest with high hopes. Friday night went as planned with massive
signals from EU on 80 m. In fact, by Saturday morning, I had matched last
year's DX count on 80 (for all of last year's contest). Unfortunately, the
worst was yet to come....

Saturday started OK - not great, but not bad either - but by the PM condx had
changed for the worse. Enough that I rapidly lost interest in the contest. By
Saturday midnight I was resigned to the fact that this was as far as I was
going and was ready to quit.

Things looked better in the morning and although I was about 400 qsos behind
last year's pace I decided to roll up my sleeves and get to it! With a lot of
luck I managed to overcome the qso deficit and exceeded my wildest
expectations.

Following is a critical analysis of each band:

10 m - expected nothing and was rewarded accordingly

15 m - the band that keeps on giving, even when you think the solar cycle has
probably scuttled any chance of working lots of DX

20 m - where the action is

40 m - probably my favorite band. Always happy to exceed 100 DX countries

80 m - think I exceeded my personal DX best on this band

160 m - "Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away" - 160 m signals
received at my qth are so weak they might as well come from the Crab nebula.
Having said that, this baby did cough up a double mult in the last 15 minutes
of the contest :>)

All in all, a great contest!

As usual, it's a jungle out there...

73,

Doug
