Comments:

Murphy struck with a vengeance!

Several weeks ago, sometime during the night,a pipe burst upstairs directly
above my radio shack.Ugh! Water, water everywhere. Ceiling tiles sagging.
Flooring,
carpeting and underlayment soaked and squishy. My ICOM 7600 and PW-1 dry and
seems OK because I cover main items when not in use. Auxiliary stuff wet.
Homeowners insurance covered damages (less $500)with annotation that water
damage to electronics may surface later. Contractors said would finish well
before Thanksgiving weekend. A contractor's promise. They were still working
Thanksgiving eve and said they would finish Friday. I told them not to come
back until Tuesday. They said I could use the radio room but it had to be empty
by Tuesday.

Spent the next two days (less Thanksgiving dinner out)putting station back
together. Surprisingly it seemed to be working by contest time. (With some
jury-rigged hay-wiring) Throughout the contest Murphy remained active. My CW
would be nice, clean and not erratic for about 20-30 minutes, then would get
clunky and erratic. After all kinds of checks and adjustments, the only thing
that would restore a proper CW signal was to reboot the computer! CW would be
OK for another 20-30 minutes then screw up again. So ... Reboot again and again
and again.

Only reason I didn't shut down and rake leaves was GD's exhortation to
contribute any size score for FRC. So, I did an "any size score". GO
FRC!
