Comments:

Sometimes when I write these reports I think that surely something has happened
during my time on the air during the weekend that has been especially unique or
interesting that maybe hasn't happened to anyone else in the past 48 hours.

  I am usually wrong about this.

Sometimes maybe it's just that sharing the trials and tribulations of the
weekend with my fellow ham is the reason that I 

write these things at all. (I mean, I never used to write them and had to wait
11 months for the scores to come out in the magazine, same as everyone else.)

Usually I just moan and groan about health, lack of good propagation, a broken
antenna or the grouchy so-and-so I've run into on the airwaves that makes it
into the final cut to I submit to 3830scores.   I do endeavour to switch it up
by times, so they aren't all the same.   Some of mine are (hopefully) funny,
some are sad, some are stories, some are (too) sarcastic while others are so
factual and to the point you wonder if it was even me who wrote them at all.  

This one might even be bordering on the philosophical.  Lets face it, some of
these reports I've read here are just downright too brief and/or deadpan boring
I want to poke out my eyes with the sharp end of a PL-259.....I digress. 

But why bother writing it at all you say?  We've all been there. We've all had
fun times, bad times, triumphs and disappointments during the weekend, and in
truth, life.
So why do we write these wee notes then?

I think it must be human nature to relive in the common experiences that perhaps
make us even more human.  It's like sharing a beer  with your buddies
during/after a sporting event or a good movie.  Like pause/rewind on your PVR. 

We love to relive it and rehash it in all its gory details.

So, I will write something to keep my little portion of these great pages from
becoming auspiciously blank.

OK, hows this:
This weekend I had some successes and some losses.  I felt fine at times and
battled a head cold at other times.
I didn't do as well as I had first hoped (on Thursday), but with a litle luck
maybe did better than others in my category.  I should've put in more time, but
didn't so my score suffered. (woe is me) My radio equipment wasn't quite up to
par,  but did perform more or less satisfactorily and can't really be blamed. 
The jury is still out on how the operator himself performed.
I ran into a couple real jerks but also a multitude of great people.  The nice
folks outweigh the not-so-nice by a margin of 100:1

Just like being at the Mall.

I sometimes think maybe I have fun doing these contests.

I bet you probably do too !
