Comments:
Always a fun contest. There is nothing like being a multiplier from home.
Nobody cares if they work me in the WW, but the ARRL is different. It is really
cool hearing South Americans and Africans be so thankful to work me!
It is going to be a tough time here in the north for the coming years -- 40
meters is really tough. The first night all I did was tune past W5's running
JA's I couldn't even hear a whisper of. Fortunately 80 and 160 were good and
there was fun to be had. EU was just not there. I missed so many common
multipliers there it was depressing. Again, 80 and even 160 were fun in that
direction as well.
Speaking of depressing, the brief lull when running stations gave their call
signs seems to have come to an end. Welcome back to hell for unassisted
stations.
I worked 1 EU and 3 Asians on 15. It could have been worse!
The second day in ARRL is always challenging due to the low activity in
multiplier rich areas like SA and Africa. With the bad conditions that was
compounded this year. The comment by ZF9CW that he was thinking watching TV
would be better made me laugh out loud. My thought exactly!
Look for my scores waaaaaay down the rankings for a few more years yet.
There are an awful lot of folks around who still know CW!
