Pre-contest preparation for 2018 SS Phone:

 --  Tue/Wednesday:  Hiked 12 miles with 4,000 feet of elevation gain  to the
Gocta Falls, a remote water fall (3rd tallest in world) near the Peru-Ecuador
border at an elevation of 7,000 feet ASL.  
 -- Thursday: At noon Peru time, began a 34-hour Journey home from our remote
village in northern Peru, arriving at the smoke-filled Lake County N6ZFO shack
Friday evening.
 -- Sat/Sun:  18 hours behind the mike enduring the Sweepstakes phone contest
(non-assisted, not using voice keyer).

Someone noted that this might be called an Iron-man sweepstakes effort.

Notes from contest:  Missed VI and NL. In a final S&P sweep down the band on
40m heard a NNY station working someone. Found a clear spot on 7162 and called
CQ. Twenty min later worked  two NNY stations both answering CQ's, one giving me
#11.  Then it was time to quit this nonsense.
