Comments:

I had a great time on 20m. I had limited time due too some cooking I had too do
for a Thanksgiving meal on Sunday. I also admit that I should of put in more
time on Saturday, but when band slowed down I stopped and went out to enjoy the
nice afternoon. My goal was a thousand Q's but missed that.
I was talking to a buddy of mine Friday morning while shopping on Black Friday,
and decided to try to get K5GO's 40 meter yagi going and working 40m only. But
it need a coax jumper at top of tower, which I knew ahead of time, and didn't
know if antenna would turn, since it's been a while since it was last used. So
I packed up my stuff Friday morning about 10am head up to Stan's(K5GO's) contest
station, (what's left of it) and started working on the 40 meter yagi. Found a
piece of coax for the jumper and attached it to antenna and hardline. Came down
form Gale force winds on top of tower and light rain. Hooked up swr meter and
very bad swr. Stan texted me form ZF land and I found out I hooked the jumpe to
the wrong hardline, so back up tower I went, hooked it too the right coax and
back down I came. Swr was 1.5:1 which was okay. So I hooked up amp and radio I
brought and swr was still 1.5:1. Only thing was I couldn't hear any station on
the band and the band was open, by now it's 3pm. So messed with it some more
and never could figure out what was going on, so packed up and came back home
and hooked stuff back up here and ran 20m only here.
I just wanted to use the big 5 El 40m yagi one more time before its gone. Maybe
during the ARRL contest in a few months if I can get it working. I should of
started working on the antenna a week ago. Oh well..
Thanks to all for the Q's and thanks to YR1918BB for putting up with me, hard a
hard time getting his call for some reason, don't know why it's so short!!!
See everyone in next Contest!!
73's
John
