Comments:
Operating SB15 from North Carolina might not have been one of my better
decisions. Too much dead time. Friday night I only made one Q before the band
went totally dead. Thanks to ZM4T for hearing me! Saturday I made a few EU Qs
starting around 1230 UTC but no steady runs until after 1300. Unfortunately it
closed about 1500. Yes, SA helped but the rate went way down. My ZERO point US
rate may have been higher than my point generating Qs until shutting down around
2200 UTC. The shut down time was determined by the fact that I could not hear
the ONLY JA that was spotted. If you can not hear JA3YBK you will not work any
JAs.
Sunday morning started earlier with EU open here around 1200 and stayed open
longer until about 1700. Again, no great rate, but it was open. As the band
seemed to be in better condition I was optimistic for an afternoon JA opening.
Wrong.... I could hear several JAs but none could hear me. I was also
frustrated by seeing Guam and Micronesia spotted but could not hear them at all.
During that time I did work several VKs and ZLs so I was close!
Even with the frustrating propagation and results, 15 meter CW is still my
favorite SO selection.
Looking forward to ARRL 160 CW this coming weekend.
73,
Bruce N1LN
