Comments:

With my direct-fed tower vertical (thanks W5JAW for design and coil
construction) and the SAL-30 receiving array, I'm at least competitive and have
loads of fun. A "big time" pizza bet is riding on the outcome of this
with K5NA, and to be honest, betting with Richard with his BIC expertise and
amazing set-up on 160 meters is simply an opportunity to hang out and buy him a
pizza and adult beverage. But we are super friends and the post-contest meals
are special.

Some highlights:
*Low noise with the SAL-30 and a week of rains and drizzle.
*Notable DX QSOs with G4IIY, KL7RA, OK1CF, PE3T, DJ0MDR, DL4CF, G3XGC, JH1FXK,
and JH1HDT! JH2FXK won the longest distance award with a 22 point QSO!
*Was not able to hear at all the VK9X station! Know his call only from someone
sending it back to him from a split freq. Nary a peep from this station.
Everyone else seemed to hear him, though.
*No reference help at all on Grid Squares received, so might lose one or two of
the "goodies" because of difficulty copying. I took total heed of the
guidance in the SP rules on playing it straight all the way.
My most often worked Grids were: FM19 )7), FN42 (6), FN20 (5), EN80 (5), and
several at (4).

Thanks for all the terrific activity. Loads of fun. See everyone in a few weeks
for a serious SS effort.

K3 and Alpha 87A. See the station photo at my QRZ.com page.
