Comments:

Well, this was a tough one. Started on 20 and struggled to get anything going.
Nobody seemed to be able to hear my 100 watts and a wire and I was never able to
get a run going. Worked K7RL in WA (who always hears me) and that was pretty
much my only West Coast until much later in the day. Still, I kept at it and
decided to move to 40 earlier than planned. That turned out to be a good move,
actually had some good runs so 40 turned out to be the money band. Took a break
for dinner and then found the West Coast had opened on 40, including Hawaii! I
had hoped to make up for some lost Q's on 80, but that turned into a
disappointment, as the QRM was just too heavy. Thanks to WB9Z (NV9L), he was the
loudest signal on the band. I can usually count on 4 - 5 Q's on 160 (dialed down
to 3 watts), but never heard anything with the QRM. Still, I always enjoy this
contest, because I feel somewhat equal at 100 watts. See you next time.
