I drove 2.5 hours to try a hilltop in central FN12 but there were lots of
problems: I got there late, answering lots of questions from nearby campers put
me further behind schedule (one person asked if I was tracking Bigfoot), there
was noise S9 or greater from west clockwise through north, and one station I
worked didn't know his grid square. When I confirmed that he had Internet
capability, I told him how he could look it up on the QRZ database and then give
it to me over the air, but he never went and did it (and I never heard him again
despite being the strongest signal in the sprint at S9+40). Let's hope for
better luck in the September VHF.
