Comments:

K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. I (N3UM)
operated SOHP in the Dec. 2019 Stew Perry since W3GB was away.

In Dec. 2018 Stew I claimed our best SOHP result to that date,
420 Qs and 1327 points in 9.6 hrs. In 2019 with the same gear I
claimed a similar 426 QSOs in 9.9 hrs, but the final 2031 points
was a wild 53% higher! A startling result due to good conditions
(low QRN and mostly Kp=0) which gave spectacular EU QSO totals,
85 Qs in 23 EU ctys, vs 26 EU Qs in 14 ctys in 2018.

EU QSOs were plentiful early; 20 of them out of 236 total Qs in my
first 4 hrs. 21-01Z, 215 of them running. In 2018 I got 232 Qs in
the same 4 hrs, but only TWO were EUs.

The 12-17 point EU Qs kept coming after 01Z whether I ran or tuned,
so QSO points in the 01, 03, and 05Z hrs. were 261, 240, and 263.
In contrast, last year 2/3 of the 26 EUs came late, 05-0632Z, and
max. hourly point totals were 180 in the 05Z hr. and 202 06-0638Z.

It seems odd given the great conditions, but I got only 16 7-8 point
far-west Qs this year vs 27 last year. That may be because the many
EUs distracted me from the W/VE 6s and 7s, or that some EUs at S-5
to S-7 buried them. I had to set the Orion filter BW to 100 Hz for S&P
to pick any one signal out of the mass, though it made tuning fussy.
