Comments:
This was probably the most fun I have had in a CW contest,
especially given my meager CW skills and compromise LB
antennas. I actually felt like I knew what I was doing!
Friday night started out well, but had to stop at 9:30.
Got up ~5:30 am Saturday to see what was happening: even
with my 15' high 160 "Z-pole" I picked up a new country
for 160 DXCC. Around 9am I had the best C&P "mouse-time"
ever, hitting around 75/hour for about 20 minutes, mostly
on 20. 15 never really showed up very much, and 10 was dead.
Saturday night 80 & 160 were very noisy and I gave up at 10:30.
I wasn't able to start until ~2pm Sunday, and both 15 & 20
seemed quiet; and I wasn't being heard. Then 40 opened earlier
than I expected and was great for the rest of the 'test.
Goal I -- beat last year's score: easy! Even without 10 and
not much of 15 I essentially met my best scores in the 5 years
I've been in this contest.
Goal II -- AK on 80 to complete 80 WAS here in MA: nope!
Didn't even see them spotted.
Rig: TS-2000
S&P (actually mostly C&P)
Log: N3FJP's International DX Contest Log v4.8
BIC: ~13 hours (Official "60 min" time: 17 hours)
Antennas:
10 HB 5el yagi @ 30ft (not that it mattered much...)
15 Rotatable Dipole @ 33ft (noisy - no F/R)
20 HB Moxon @ 36ft (works quite well)
80/40 trapped 80/40 + 30M fan dipole @ ~30ft
160 a "temporary" 160 dipole run "zig-zag" around
the back yard at about 15 ft average height,
fed at 80/40/30 dipole feedpoint.
