Comments:
I almost didn't do this one. I was dead tired, not all my RX antennas were
working, conditions had been depressing, etc, etc. I was even a few minutes
late getting started and had told my XYL I might come back inside soon. Then
the big signals from EU woke me up and I had lots of fun the next 2 days!
Wow, 160 is back and will only get better! Good signals and a quiet band
reminded me of great openings in the past. The strange thing was how poor the
morning opening to the Far East was. I heard V84SAA Saturday morning but did
not call since I had worked him earlier in the week. However no JAs were heard
until just after sunrise and I only logged JA3YBK and JA0QNJ. Sunday I heard
JA3YBK (even weaker than Saturday) and then a VERY weak HL5IVL. I thought there
was NO WAY Kim would ever hear me but he eventually got my call right about 8
minutes after my sunrise. Fortunately no Western station disturbed our many
exchanges since I'm sure any QRP W6 would have obliterated my signal in Korea.
That was definitely the biggest thrill in the contest for me.
