Comments:

Conditions were surely not the greatest. Propagation would shift from short to
long and back again in an eyelash. EUs would call in for a few contacts with
decent signals only to disappear back to the usual hi volume VA and PA callers.
Happened both nights. There also seemed to be a lack of the usual big gun EUs
QRV. SA/CA/Caribe was also in somewhat short supply. LU usually makes it into
the log. Not this time.

I stayed up through the graveyard shift with short breaks both nights. Shudda
slept 3 - 5 AM. Too slow and too wiped out. I gave up an hour before SR on
Sunday just 10 Qs short of 800. After sleeping all day Sunday, I gave the last
hour a shot to make 800. Came up one short.

S/P mults were down this year. Missed the usual easy ones: MT, NV, SD (seems
like this was a tuff one this year), and BC. After missing KH6 last year, KH7XS
was in there with a great signal. Highlight was working Dave, ZL2OK, who was
persistent in responding to my several "last letter kilowatt"
transmissions.

On a somewhat darker note, overheard an exchange by a contester directing
disparaging remarks to a ragchewing net that apparently meets 365 days a year.
The NCS did not reply in kind. It reflects badly on contesting. I know some
nets feel they have a God-given right to "their" frequency. But the
smart thing to do here was find another frequency to CQ rather than engage in
war. I tuned off.

Let's see more daily Top Band DXing like the beacon AA1K ! !
 off.
