Comments:

I considered this contest a way to determine how effective running could be
given the limitations of my crummy antenna. It was surprising how well it worked
out. Things started off with good S&P rate. I was hoping to keep up rate up
to 60 per hour and that happened actually even just hopping around looking for
CQ'ers. I swept through 20M several times and when I had worked all the loud
guys I switched to running higher in the band. Being a weak signal it wasn't
long before I got crowded out. But I kept at it by S&P'ing again while
looking for an empty spot. Well what seemed to be empty. I do a few QRL's before
switching to run just to see if anyone is there that I can't hear. So I did this
routine several times switching between S&P and running. Checked 15M several
times and caught a few but not much happening there. Took a couple of half hour
breaks and then by 4:30 20M had pretty much run it's course. I followed the same
routine on 40M until 8:15 when I went to 80M. Running on that band was, of
course, fruitless given the limitations of my antenna setup. So I just S&P'd
until I got to the point where I was just tired of not being heard. Decided to
quit at 9:30. My score was much better than last year at this time so I consider
this a good outing. Thanks to all who picked me out of the mud. Good ears there.
