Comments:

Ken (N6RO) and I were planning to do this one casually, but as we got into it,
it morphed into a "part time concerted effort" at his station (four
square, SAL 30, E/W beverages).  He kindly allowed me to use my own call.

I started at 02Z with a good rate. However, didn't work much DX and missed the
EU sunrise opening; band seemed fairly noisy. At 08Z, Ken took over. He reports
"both nights the JAs were best in the 09Z hour.  Stayed on until 1530 Sat.
hoping for more JA and other Asia. Heard two BY and an HL, they couldn't hear
me, nor most US callers. Last year I logged BY BV JT HL 9M6 YB.  That was a good
opening, but not this year.."

For the second night, we tried having me remote in starting at 00Z.  Rates were
half what they were the first night, but the EU sunrise caused signals to pop up
out of nowhere like ghosts materializing in the mist.  The first one to appear
was CN2CO at 0630Z, then between 0713 and 0800, DL, LX, F, G, and GM (I could
also hear OK but he couldn't hear me.) Highlight was when an EI answered my CQ.

Missed NE and 6 Canadian provinces, including (surprisingly) MB.  Total DX was
29, which broke down to 4 AF, 2 AS, 7 EU, 8 NA (not including K/VE), 3 OC, and 5
SA.

We worked more DX in fewer hours than in the ARRL contest, but not nearly as
much as CQWW CW (on 160).

All in all, a fun contest on a mercurial and mysterious band. Great to work so
many familiar calls from CWT, NS, etc.
