Comments:

This was one of the hardest contests I've ever done. Conditions were awful - 15
Meters was non-existent (again), so the first 7 or 8 hours were a one band
affair. I tried to get on 40 M early (1700 local time), but while I could hear a
bunch of Midwest and East Coast stations, they couldn't hear me.

The combination of the bottom of the solar cycle, low power, RTTY and competing
with a VHF contest also seemed to drive participation down. Many of the stations
I normally work weren't on (or at least I didn't hear them).

Trying to do SO2R in these conditions with a SteppIR 3-element and a dipole is
definitely not optimal. I did run interleaved CQs for the last three hours and
was able to get into a rhythm where I was between 60 and 100 QSOs/hour, which
all things considered, seemed like a victory.

I guess it can only get better from here...
