Comments:

I worked in previous Stew Perry contests only a few times and only giving away a
few QSOs. I have to admit I never read the rules...:-) This time I did and had
to find out a few things. The rules asks to turn off the radio's band cope. I
was thinking what's gonna happen, how am I going to work stations, almost
panicked...:-)So I turned off the radio's (TS890)band scope...and nothing
happened. It was actually fun strolling up and down and find stations. I have
found the two DX there were out on the band KV4FZ and NP2J almost immediately. I
was thinking about the old days when there were no QSO aids at all. Turning off
the scope is only a small thing. Lot of tech aids are still coming from the
digital readout and from N1MM so it is not as in the old days...:-)
My new radio is simply fantastic on 160m. The receiver is amazing...I was able
to use my TX antenna for receive and I did not have all the man made noises that
I had before. Can't wait to hear it in the next winter season.
I fell off the chair around 4:20 Z...I was too tired. Thanks for the QSOs and
sorry if I was not able to pick you up...I have the corner lot at Bovaird and
Torbram in Brampton with tons of street lights, transformers, power lines, cars
and who knows what...:-)
My antenna is an Inv L...about 30 Ft up and the rest is coming down and the last
6 or 7 meters is bent in 90 Degrees. The 4 elevated radials are about 5 ft high
and bent at about 60 ft to fit into the lot. I am using this for 80m too and
disconnect the wires to resonate on 80. The Rx antennas are short beverage (140
Ft to EU), pennant to EU, rotatable coax loop (was not on this time). The Rx
antennas give a bit of relief from the noises but being directional not always
helpful.
