Comments:

My antenna for transmitting and receiving on all bands was a wire doublet, 30 ft
(9m) high and 70 ft (21m) long, sloping downward toward Europe.

I received with polarization diversity, using an Elecraft K3S and a horizontal
doublet 50 ft high, broadside to Europe.  Diversity reception helped
substantially on 160, 80, and 40 m.

On 160, 80, and 40 m, my transmitted signal was loud.  In 17 minutes on Saturday
afternoon I called 18 Europeans on 40 m, and *17* of them answered my first
call.  The exception answered my second call after working W3LPL.  I worked T31,
ZL, and KH6 on 40 and/or 80 m.  DX ops volunteered that I was loud on 80 and 40
m.  Whereas, . . .

On 20 and 15 m, I could neither hear nor be heard.  I could not *hear* DX that
nearby contesters with TOWERS were *working*.  I could not hear 95% of the
stations that had been spotted within New England and the Mid-Atlantic states of
the USA.  (Among the exceptional 5% was a KL7 that answered my first call.)  The
only countries I worked on 15 m were in the Caribbean, Central America, and
South America.

I suppose that, when the Sun has no spots so foF2 is very low, the only DX
propagation on the high bands is via very long-distance, very low-angle hops;
and my antenna is simply too low to transmit or receive at very low angles.
