Comments:

My Thanks to Rudy N2WQ who maintains a lovely home here on Roatan. With help
from Dennis W1UE thay have put together a very nice station that is, of course,
still a work in progress. I know they have plans for improvement in the low band
wire antennas. After the SSB weekend I realized that the weakest band was 40.I
brought down a precut dipole. It was easy to install on the tower as there was a
pulley in place. At about 35 - 40 feet it outperformed the 40 M vertical by about
10 db.

For the SSB weekend I wasn't able to get a special call and had to go with
HR9/N3AD. That call was really brutal especially on SSB. Foe the CW weekend I
kept pleading with the powers to be and the license for HQ9M arrived only a few
hours before the contest.

I was informed on Wednesday that there would be two Island wide power outages
one on Friday - fortunately before start of contest. The second on Sunday from
0800 to 1200 local time (1400Z to 1800Z).My son Rob KT3M was able through a
business contact on the island to have a generator delivered on Friday. I put
the generator on just during the outage. It worked flawlessly to keep the
station on during the outage. It was not planned to use amps during the outage.
Those four hours were among my best. So really didn't miss the amps very much.
OTOH, I sure did miss the air conditioning. The shack has no windows and I
wasn't able to keep the door open as the noise from the generator was
overwhelming even with the door closed. I really wanted to take a shower or two
but didn't want to give up chair time. I did take a s very short jump in the
pool however.
