Pop-up thunderstorm came out of nowhere at 8 PM in the middle of a contact with
K1DY (sorry, Bill). Had to tear down and leave the hilltop immediately since I
didn't know whether the lightning was headed toward me or not. Parked on the
shoulder of a lower elevation rural road a couple miles away with a view of the
hilltop and waited to see what would happen with the lightning. The lightning to
the northeast diminished, but it did so just as a new storm arrived in a
different nearby location. Waited until after 10 PM but that one did not weaken
fast enough to allow me to re-activate the hilltop so I went home, happy to be
alive to contest another day.
