Comments:
Typical 3830 remarks are such as "arrived late" or "had family
commitment on sunday", etc.
As G3TXF comments here, there are (too?) many other contests going on at the
same time.
You give 599 NAM and get 599 2364 or another weird response. Do you log the QSO?
What to do?
Suggestion: Reduce MM to 24h.
The number of submitted logs in 2019 MM was 1243.
This is like SAC 1200, REF 900, CQ-M 1500 logs, etc.
These "medium-size" contests typically last 24h.
24h would certainly be enough to have exactly the same fun and to save precious
time for other weekend activities.
SAC, Scandinavian Activity Contest, originally lasted one and a half days.
After a few years' fierce debate the format was changed to 24h.
And everybody is happy (read: happier).
The MM organizers would worry about records, probably much more than the actual
record keepers.
However, the MM format was radically changed 10 years ago and all previous
records were gone. Now it is time to step forward again.
The popularity and respect of MM would probably INCREASE after REDUCING its
duration.
I'll send this suggestion to the organizer.
PSE do the same if you agree.
