Comments:

This was my first 160M contest. With some urging and coaching from N5TR and K5PA
I modified (hacked?) my 10-80 endfed. I lowered the antenna and disconnected the
9-1 transformer and added a ~130ft line in the other direction. While on the
ladder, I dropped the wing nut to hold the wires together. It fell in the leaves
below. I grabbed an alligator clip and just said what the heck, I gotta make
this work. it did! So I guess I ended up with a kind of a dipole. Somehow, it
was easily tunable. In fact in parts of the band I didn't use the tuner.

So Friday night was like magic. I have never seen so much going on on 160m. It
was great on Friday night but come Saturday and Sunday the going go tough
finding non Dupes.

The issue I was having was, I just don't think I was heard. Some stations seem
to just ignore me and others just walked over my location regardless of doing
S&P or calling. So 100 watts just doesn't get my stroke and it's
understandable given I'm in the city. I had to battle local Christmas lights
too.

I really only hear a couple of DX and for sure they didn't hear me well enough
to get a copy.

A fun challenge!
