Comments:

ARRL DX CW has always been one of my two favorite contests (CQWW CW is the other
one). However at 78 I'm not sure how many all out efforts I have left for these
48 hour mind numbing marathons. Fortunately I have an understanding wife who has
learned to put up with them after all these years. I'm sure sitting in a chair
for 40 hours in a week end along with severe sleep deprivation is not good for
both my physical and mental health!

Score is slightly better than last year thanks to 220 more Q's despite 30 less
multipliers. Still puzzling on why the mults are down so much. Had 20 less on 15
which is understandable but had 8 more on 10. Conditions oncthe lower bands
seemed as good or better than last year yet I had 21 fewer mults on 80/40/20.
Comparing scores with 2018 WRTC partner K5WA his higher multiplier count is
almost all due to 80 meters despite me having a few more contacts there. From
past experience I know he has a better signal into Europe on 80 than I do -
probably due to lower ground conductivity compared to my rocky hill top.

After going through 3 years of qualifying contests for the 2018 WRTC with almost
no problems luck seems to have caught up with me. Perhaps part of it is now
running high power puts more stress on the antennas. I had intermittent problems
with the 160 meter vertical and the top yagi on my 15 meter stack. On top of
that the bottom yagi on the 20 meter stack developed high SWR Saturday morning
and was unusable for the rest of the contest. Don't think those problems
significantly impacted my score but will require some tower climbing to
resolve.

The 160 meter propagation to Europe on the second day was excellent - much
better than on the first day. After not hearing anything on 10 on Saturday it
was a pleasant surprise to hear the Caribbean and northern South America there
Sunday. It will sure be nice when ten really opens up again (15 too!) but looks
to be at least two years off.

Some data below for anyone interested.
