Comments:

This was a day when everything broke. We got slammed by the snow/ice/freezing
rain storm last night so my day began at 0530 to get outside to remove the mess.
First, the snow blower refused to start no matter what language I spoke to it.
So that necessitated over 8 hours of shoveling two driveways, sidewalks, and
patios by hand with many breaks needed to rest my back. This was heavy, wet
slush. I was beat and had to take a nap. I finally get into the shack just
before 2200Z and 40 was sounding fairly good. Knocked out 40 quick QSO's before
needing to stop to feed the livestock. By the time I got back in the chair, the
wind was kicking up and my 80/40 HF-2V was whipping around like crazy and the
SWR was jumping all over the place. Something was breaking contact and it would
jump from 1.1:1 to over 6:1 as I spoke into the mic. This is the same antenna
that performed so flawlessly for the NAQP CW event a week ago. The wind gusts
are over 25 - 30 MPH and that has put the kibosh on any further operating.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
