SOAPBOX: KD7AKE; I am located in southern Utah next to Bryce Canyon National
Park. My rig is a Yaesu FT-857D/YT-100 tuner. Antenna is a G5RV on a 30 ft.
tower. I was operating on 100 watts. This year I had a difficult time on the
contest. I am not exactly sure what happened but I had trouble with my equipment
but got that worked out, but had QRM thru out the contest. Most of the time I
could hear stations operating in the 9's but I could not make any contact. I
started out on 80 m and soon moved to 20m because of weak signals. I have done
well in the past ion 20 m, but not this time. 40 m was not much better even
though the Propagation numbers were good. I am thinking of replacing my antenna,
I am sure that would help. I want to thank Grand Mesa Contesters Club for
