K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC.

N3UM and W3GB did Multi-Op HP in Jan. 2020 CQ WW 160 CW, as we
have since 2016. Our goal was to beat our best claimed score of
236.1 K in 2018. It was exciting to blow past that and claim
305.5 K, due to amazing propagation to EU; 146 EU Qs at 10
pts/Q = 1460 QSO pts, 53% of our total. In 2018 we were happy
with 61 EU Qs.

In the first 4 hr. 22-02Z N3UM ran for 283 Qs, then clicked spots
for 21 more in the last 15 min. He got 11 10-pt Qs, 795 pts, and
40 of our 52 St/Pv mults, out to ND and AZ.

At 02Z W3GB took over and did well for 1 hr, 128 Q pts and 13 Cty
mults. But after 03Z his rate was ruined by strong varying multi-
carrier modulated QRM, probably AM broadcast intermod. He pushed
on until 06Z for 177 more Q pts and 11 more cty mults.

QRV again 22-02Z W3GB found the AM BC IM gone. By 00Z he had made
12 10-pt Qs, 204 Q pts, and 3 mults. Then 00-02Z loud EUs poured in,
many S-7 to S-9, and W3GB got 47 10-pt. Qs, 242 and then 264
Q pts/hr, and 10 Cty mults, clicking spots.

N3UM continued that 02-04Z; he got 45 10-pt. Qs, 287 and then 229
Q pts/hr, and 13 mults. After 04Z rate to EU dropped, so N3UM ran
and clicked spots mostly below 1810 kHz and got 81 2-pt. W/K Qs
plus ID, WY, and MB, but “only” 22 10-pt. Qs and 2 Cty mults.

Compared with 2018 we claimed a 29% higher score with 2.6
fewer BIC hrs. and 63 fewer Qs, due to 4.2 vs 3.1 avg. pts/QSO.
We got 37 EU ctys, 11 NA, and 12 others. Missed NE, SD, NV, and WA.
