It looks like I was so discouraged by conditions last year that I didn't even
send in my puny log.  This year started out terrible on 40, then after a long
break, rather poor on 20 and 15, and another long break (including some
thunderstorms).

After dark, 20 went crazy!  In less than 2 hours, I picked up 12 European HQ
stations, and a good number of additional Zone 28/29 stations.  It was
presumably grey line, but the relative ease with which I was heard relative to
received signal levels, the persistence of the opening, and the relative lack of
domestic signals was remarkable.  I scored higher in 2018 due to much better
conditions on 40, but I picked up twice as many HQ stations this year.  The
overnight on 40 after all that excitement was sort of a downer, but I did get
one JA shortly before the end of the contest.  Definitely worth it to put up the
antennas for this one!
