Comments:

Well that was a fun summer distraction, in a world filled with stress and
anxiety the new normal to lock into local combat via remote operation in a
contest that forces the N6RO team out of our comfort zone, and into the (rather
draconian) M/S category where 1 operator is qrv at any one point of time, and 10
minute rules prevent SO2R operation implicitly even in band/mode.

As you can imagine, this was a grand training event for many of our team who
have been conditioned for M/M operation. First we congratulate our local
hilltop competitors operating as K6EZ for taking and maintaining a lead early
Saturday through the contest.. really kept us motivated.

We decided to enter the M/S category to make sure anyone in our group got some
good air time this year, and to offer an opportunity to some of our ops to
operate bands not usually available to them. Our station is not fully
operational with new rotors in place requiring electrical enhancement to rotate
properly on 20, and a stubborn intermittent prob with 20 stack match. given
this, we set our goal meter at "Fun" and try "1 mpoint"

Despite a fully operational 15m stack, and as we watched the online scoreboard,
it became apparent by mid day saturday that we had made some strategic choices
that haunted us for the rest of the test, not spending enough time collecting
qso volume on 15m as we experimented with the 10 min rule and how to apply it.
This put us in a chasing position with our hilltop friends for the rest of the
test.

Band conditions were remarkably good for a Mid summer test, with all of the
bands open at some level for some amount of time. 15m was surprisingly good,
and despite the expected noise, 40 and 20 were ok as well.

murphy presented us with a couple of unique challenges, A: a failed 20m stack
match rendering middle ant inop, and B: a strange network problem with the ISP
serving the station, causing any op on the AT&T network an inability to
connect, this presented in the middle of our 1 op that had AT&T requiring an
immediate and unplanned substitute operator. 1st world remote problems hi hi.

other than those exceptions, I kicked off the test at 5 am local for the first 2
hours on 160 > 80 > 40 and we passed from op to op every 2 or so hours
giving everyone 2 X 2 hour shifts with a couple exceptions in 24 hs.

Thanks to all for the QSO's, Congrats to Oliver, Denny and team for offering us
continued motivation through great operation. Congrats to our team for trying
hard! We had a great time, good runs, made our Megapoint and advanced the
training of our team and exercised the station significantly. Talking to the
group on slack, we all had lots of fun!

Radios:
Flex 6600-M X 2 running SmartLink Remote for Pan Adapters and RRC for audio and
CW
Amps: 4O3A Power Genius XL X 2
Antennas: 5 X 5 X 5 on 10, 15 and 20(mid 20 inop) 4 X 4 on 40 4sq on 80 and
160.

4 remote ops with max of 1 onsite for a couple of shifts to maintain social
distancing.

Special thanks to Ken N6RO for his team instruction, wisdom, chair time and use
of the station as always, and for allowing a M/S to happen from Radio Oakley.

This is our new established baseline to work from. thanks to all for the qso's,
73 and Seeya next time!

For the entire N6WM at N6RO IARU M/S team
