Comments:
This was my first RTTY contest done alone… Rich N1IXF had helped me set up
the software and we did the CQ WPX RTTY contest a few weeks ago so I had a bit
of practice but still… I started slow. Note I said I started slow, as the
conditions were quite good! But I was trying to remember the procedure and
honestly I should have done the practice on Thursday evening.
To top it off I had very limited time as my wonderful XYL had bought me tickets
to see Mercy Me at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford for last evening. GREAT
SHOW!!! So I started just after 1 pm and went till about 4 when I had to leave
to meet our friend Lisa as she was riding to the show with us. I was hoping to
get back on when I returned from the show as it didn’t end till 1800Z.
I got back just before midnight (1700Z) and had about an hour. I spent all of
it on 80 Meters. A good run and stayed on till the last second…
15 was tough, 20 was good but very noisy, 40 the same and 80 productive. STRONG
winds again and heavy snow squalls in the afternoon. Continued wind at midnight
and after.
I had a ball. I’ll be back for more…
73, Tom W1TJL
