Comments:

lET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL! Amazing conditions, great participatiion with the
headline being 10M usable from VP5 for the first time in many years.
Covid and Thanksgiving week conspired to prevent a team effort from Harbour
Rock, Turks & Caicos. I don't have the motivation or stamina for a full
time SO effort so I bailed to Classic. Classic has its own challenges with
single radio and no spotting. To say that the few of us who did expeditions were
in demand is the understatement of the year. Pileups were almost unmanageable
for my limited skills. Thanks to all for your patience as I tried to sift out
callers. At certain levels the pileups were counterproductive and my rate went
down when I also had to often repeat to the lucky ones who couldn't hear my LP
exchange through the QRM. Nevertheless it was a great ride for the almost 27
hours I stayed in the chair. Haven't yet figured out what my first 24 hour score
will be so the above is the total including overtime in the general SO
category.
Station:
Harbour Rock is located on a north facing ridge which forms the
"backbone" of the island of Providenciales ("Provo"). Villa
and antenna site is more than 100' (30M) above the beautiful Caribbean sea about
1/4 mile (500M) away as the radio waves fly so the low tower above ground level
is deceiving. We have a perfect view of about 180 degrees over ocean towards
North America and Europs. The 180 degree button on the SteppIR covers South
America without rotating.
Equipment:

Elecraft K3-barebones with no second receiver
(KPA500 Amp not used)
P3 Panadapter
KAT500 tuner
80M Inverted V with apex about 30' AGL
40-10M SteppIR at 30' AGL. (Dipole on 40, 3 el on high bands)
160M Requires putting up wire and counterpoise. Elected not to use this year.
N1MM+ software

Thanks for the Q's. See you next time.
73,
Jim K4QPL VP5M
