Comments:

No big band openings here in Missouri, I brought the Icom 760mkii in from the
mobile and tried some FT8 on 144 with the vertical Cushcrafts at 70 feet. At 20
watts, it worked as well as I expected, and I even made some voice contacts at
over 200 miles. It was a bigger job getting the computer connected using an old
(non-USB) Signalink. I had no idea how unstable the internal oscillator in the
706 really is. The SSB audio was all over the place. Now I appreciate the time I
spent replacing the TCXO in the Kenwood TS-480HX. My waterfall is vertical and
doesn't look like a wobbly stack of coins. There is always something to improve
on before January. See you all then!
