Comments:
What an amazing contest!!!
First of all thanks to Gabriele IT9RGY for the use of his amazing station and
callsign. His support pre contest has been of paramount importance in setting up
the station and trying it out.
The single op classic category is one of the most interesting and technical
categories. It's only a 24 hour overlay but you need to dedicate the entire
weekend in order to select the best hours to operate to maximize the score.
Lot's of planning needs to be done.
Operating remotely with all the controls on the screen makes it difficult to do
S&P so this entry has been mostly a run fest. Rates were fun. Propagation
was good but not great. I hoped for 10m to open and frequently probed the band
during the active time. Unfortunately I couldn't really get a run going but
managed a few contacts anyway. A bit of a disappointment after the openings
experienced in the CQWW SSB. Hope next year things will be improve even more.
160m was a mess. Every time I found a frequency and started CQing I was jumped
on by many stations. My inability to handle the pileup slowed the rate. Need to
improve that. With my station I can't usually experience that :)
I'm really impressed and fond of the final score. It is currently a new claimed
Sicily SOAB LP Classic record as well as a new claimed Sicily SOAB LP record
(done in just 24h). Wow!
The station was great, the operator needs some improvement but I'll work on that
before the next big CW contest!
