Comments:

This weekend I was operating the RHR 9A/Youth station which was built
exclusively for youth operators to use. A very modest score, but I am happy with
it given that I was running under 100w to a multi-band vertical + s7 QRN.

At the contest start, only VY2ZM and W2GD were audible. I waited for the pileup
to die down and came back later and worked VY2ZM for my first QSO at 2307z. W2GD
was readable at all times the band was open, but I was not able to get his
attention until the second evening. I made a handful of QSOs when I scanned the
band throughout Friday evening. Around 0600z, there was some slight greyline
enhancement and signals came up a bit. NA8V in MI was my last QSO of the night
and my best DX at 0637z.

Night 2 seemed like it might be better as stations I could not hear the previous
night were audible around 00z. I was able to get the attention of two additional
stations – W2GD and AA1K. Others were audible but either I had worked them the
previous night, or they could not hear my small signal. After this, signals
deteriorated and no additional stations were worked. At around 0540z only VY2ZM
and W2GD were just barely making it through (as well as ZF9CW).

Thanks to VY2ZM, K3ZM, K1LZ, K2ZW, K1DG, KF3B, VA2WA, K1KI, NO3M, VE3EJ, VO1HP,
NA8V, W2GD, and AA1K for digging out my weak signal and loooong callsign!
