Comments:

I didn't plan a serious entry, but ended up spending 12 hours at the radio! QSO
rates were good right to the end, but being unassisted it was necessary to S+P
frequently. I was surprised to find VO1HP at 19.45z on Sunday evening, and make
the QSO. Also fortunate that JH4UYB started CQing exactly on my frequency so I
stopped running Eu and called him. It took several goes but we made the QSO,
after which the Eu hordes descended and I left my former frequency!

I continue to be amazed how well this low tee antenna works. It's a 66ft
flat-top doublet just 32ft up, feeders strapped and fed with a JC-4S tuner. The
tuner started playing up on Saturday morning, I think I may have smoked a
capacitor or two. This caused the Gemini amp to trip out so although I could
hear NO6T well, I was unable to call him. Insertion of some inductance in series
with the antenna enabled the tuner to work ok for the rest of the contest.

The LZ1AQ orthogonal loops were a useful addition, but mainly to suppress loud
Eu signals. I usually found the signal/noise ratio was slightly better on the
transmit antenna. Nice to work LZ1AQ himself. Furthest west worked was AZ, plus
NM and a whole slew of TX stations. XE2X was very welcome, so were two NP2s and
two ZFs.
