Comments:

First contest with our youngest son Connor, who is 15 and just finished learning
CW using the Koch method at LCWO.net.

Lots of requests to repeat/confirm Connor's callsign, since it was not in any of
the Super Check Partial databases, and people wanted to make sure they got the
DC multiplier credit.

We learned lots of things every new contester should know:

- how a Great Circle Map works
- why some countries have prefixes that match their name, others not
- how to turn the rotator
- how to tune the band
- why it's easier to find stations in the clear at the high end
- how to use the FT-5000 keypad when your SO2R interface fails
- how to listen for your callsign
- how a Six-Pak works
- why N1MM+ shows some calls in Gray, others in Red and BLue
- how the multipliers and contacts generate your total score
- how the RBN publishes stations' frequencies to the internet
- why you use the high bands in the daytime, low bands at night
- why it's allowable to arrange a sked for 160 with another station during the
contest, but not beforehand

And the most important one:

- how many M&M's should you eat as a reward when you work a new multiplier

Thanks for the QSO's and see you in ARRL DX Phone.
