Thank you Tim for giving me the opportunity to work this one form such an
awesome station. I feel blessed. Everything worked flawlessly except for the Top
15M EU Stack which Tim's wife found half of the driven element laying on the
ground. Having such little weather damage, compared to many parts of the
country, was a very fortunate thing.
I also want to congratulate Dan, N6MJ, on his superb opening hour at ZF1A with a
428 rate which I think is a new record!! Way to go Dan... ask Tim about how my
first hour went here trying 2BSIQ for the first time and running ESM, it was
funny to say the least but it didn't last long until I got the rhythm going.
I started watching Solar Ham on Monday to see if the sun was going to do
anything and on Friday I saw that the SSN jumped up and I was thinking this was
going to be good, well Friday started out great but it didn't last as usual...
working pileups on 20M to Europe with 100W stations with Aurora like signals is
not fun!! Sunday felt like the 2nd day of a SS weekend. It sure was nice having
2 radios and an assortment of antennas... it allowed me to find some crazy
openings while keeping the run radio going. Sunrise LP was awesome on 40 meters
and also found UA7K on 80M after sunrise. Such an assortment of different
propagation over the weekend.
I am really getting used to these IC7610's we are using here... such a solid
contesting radio... Thanks Icom!
