Comments:

BIG KUDOS to Lee WW2DX from RHR! Lee spent 45+ minutes Friday afternoon remotely
fixing RHR app on my PC (left over junk from previous install). Also Ray W2RE
fixed last minute glitch (30 minutes before start time). Both Lee and Ray are
just AWESOME! Thank you both! Really like RHR! Used W2/Quaker in Dutchess
County, NY (600' ASL in FN31). I'm getting spoiled using a Flex 6600!

Was happy to get 72 ops from SMC assigned to 15 SMC Teams.

If you're an Elton John (or music fan)
then you probably got the name "LEVON" fairly easily

Although Richard Nixon's bday was Jan 9th so thought about that too.

Surprising I felt a tad rusty on CW this go around. Most likely due to not being
as active out here in Virginia with no physical station in apartment.

Only had five hours sleep the night before the contest so that was definitely
NOT optimal. Had to bail on the 10th hour. Was hoping for a quick nap before the
contest which would have been good but didn't happen. I did get 30 minutes on
stairstepper at gym before the contest (1,644 stairs; 104 floors)!

OMG the online scoreboard is contesting's obsession! I had it up on my iPhone so
as not to distract fiber network. Geez you get fixated on where you're at and
how you're doing versus other club members. Definitely keeps you in the fight
longer. Kind of had an internal battle with Gary W9XT but of course in the end
Gary had a good run and surpassed me on QSOs. Boy that was fun though! A lot of
great operators out there!

The thing I really miss using RHR is a paddle to insert the intermittent code
manually. Using keyboard CW is just NOT the same. Guess I'm old school on that?!
I miss my Begali paddle!

Thought that W2/Quaker performed well. Only missed ND, RI, KH6, KL7, WY plus
(NL,NT,NU,PE,SK,YT). Was called (40m?) by two Italian stations when beam was
pointed towards AZ! I can see using W2/Quaker again as I liked it. Changing AGC
down to medium really helps reduce noise. Can't say enough how having RHR has
helped my morale while away. Apartment living is just not the same as having
your own house!

Station antennas:
20,15,10m – 4 Full Size Elements GXP Yagi @ 73′
40m – 2 Full Size Elements GXP Yagi @ 73′
80m – Full size vertical
160m – INV L in a swamp

CQ CONTEST!
GO SMC!

Best of health to all,
Eric K9GY/4
