Comments:

Had more fun than anticipated.

Started early in the week where I dug an old 3el 6m beam out of the pile and a
very very old 2m - long boom beam out of that same pile.

The 6m seemed OK looks like a Cushcraft and the 2m was so old the PL-259 that
was left on and the coax from the last installation was completely rotted and
corroded requiring chisel to remove. The threads under the PL were ok..
Cleaned it up, plugged in, and the analyzer said it was OK!

Dug out a 22' mast from the pile and an old beer-brewing keg stand that stands
about 6 feet high with a very wide base. I mounted the 2 beams to the mast and
put the mast in the keg stand and it fit perfect. Per suggestion and help from
N1WK, we lifted the whole mast and clamped it to get an extra 4' or so.

With the armstrong rotor and nothing keeping the antenna from rotating in the
wind- I set out to make contacts!

The little setup worked great and really made it fun and enjoyable while knowing
this setup could be whipped up in an hour or so with assembled antennas. Running
out of the shack to scoop a multiplier was not uncommon. The warmer day on Sat
night had me running on the muddy back yard, where the evidence of this
experiment is frozen in the muddy footsteps.

I mostly ran FT8 and went in and out of the shack, but had the remote control so
I could watch a movie or football with the XYL. 1 QSO was made in both CW and
SSB to 'keep it real'.......

Looking forward to the next one where maybe an enhanced beer-keg mount will be
put in to operation. A rotor would have been really nice.
