Comments:
Wow, what a blast !
New LA record.
Thank you so much to all who called us and gave us a thrilling weekend.
And a big thanks to the team, who really made a great effort. So nice to have
Dietmar DL3DXX with us for the first time.
And most important: A very big thank you to out technical team for all the hard
work of building the station, including the last minute work of putting up an
Inverted-L for 160m, Beverages for 4 directions, adjusting resonance for the
160m 4-square and more...
We were wery excited for the conditions due to the big flare and potential CME.
We found conditions a bit strange, but in general quite good - at least on the
higher bands.
Finally a nice USA run on 10m again, - it is many years since last time that was
possible.
We got less QSOs than last year on 10m and 160m, but a lot more multipliers on
all bands.
And as always in the big contests, some unexpected and thilling experiences,
such as KH6 on 10m right after midnight, several KH6, KL7 and zone 3 stations on
15m nighttime, when China called us on 160m, VK9DX on 40m and more VK stations
than we ever worked in a contest before.
It can hardly be more fun that this.
Mr. Murphy was probably more busy somewhere else, since we did not have much
problems this year, although we did not quite forget us...
Stations were FLEX-6600 with SmartSDR and Maestros in SmartControl mode on all
bands. PGXL linears on 160m, 80m and 20m. Expert 2K-FA on 40m and QRO
Technology tube amps on 15m and 10m. The threee latter bands will get their
PGXLs installed before CQ DX CW.
