Everyone who likes radio contests, raise your hand !
-I liken single op to a lone guy fishing out of a boat in the middle of a large
lake
-Assisted (Unlimited) is a lot like shooting fish in a barrel.
-After June 2022 this next era (self spotting with social media, internet, cell
phones, skeds, live streams, Tik-Tok, Twitter feeds, asking to be spotted,
Ewetoob livestreams, and what-have-you) will be like fine dining at your
favorite restaurant where they bring you your smoked salmon on a cedar plank
right to your table.
I tried shooting fish in a barrel this weekend but you know what, I find that I
like being in a boat in the middle of a lake catching my own fish a lot more.
You wish to permit self-spotting? So be it. CW & RTTY has the RBN.
OK, let the SSB ops self spot via Telnet. Leave social media and all the rest of
the baloney out of it.
Radio should be radio.

To be different, I chose 15m SB HP (Un) this weekend. The sunspots just weren't
there. Even Scandinavia was growly under a disturbed Auroral Zone.
Should've done 20m or all band. Sigh.
Condx marginally better on Sunday but of course, very slow as a single bander.
I worked only 1 or 2 QRPers on Sat and a few handfuls on Sunday.
Friday...a dozen Q's in the first hour, then band went bye-bye (no JA's)
Saturday evening, no JA's that were workable. Finished at 676Q's and 98DXCC's
Sunday morning made my end-goal 1111 Q's and 100 DXCC's and somewhere around
300k.pts I am happy with this small stations performance and actually, my own
performance to endure single digit hours for 4+ hours Sunday afternoon after EU
closed and until the JA's (workable, even!) arrived. That was the hardest 4
hours of the contest. Hard on the morale for a rate junkie.
Never could wrangle a Q with NH2DX, but Joel was working them and taking charge
of his pileup.
Exciting Q with VU2TMP under a EU pileup or two. Whew!
73 es CU (all of a sudden!) in the next one.
Mike VE9AA
Single IC-7410 & wire 4-square of dples on 15m
CU (all of a sudden!) in the next one.
