An odd outing...
In order to help NCCC with a score, I used my remote station in San Jose, CA
K3 + KPA500

I've had problems with the complexity of remote operations .. most are
self-inflicted. Tuning RTTY is difficult when the round trip is 5,000 miles and
almost 1/4 second delay. Eventually I got the hang of it. It would have been
more fun to play with the new K4 from KH6, but then it wouldn't have counted for
the club.

Because I neglected to set up FSK at the remote, I used AFSK. Not a big deal,
but all the packet spots were off by about a kHz. I dared not send out a spot
which would be 1 kHz off freq. So, packet was pretty useless. 98% S&P.

The remote wasn't bullet proof and occasionally reset the radio to 10 meters. I
got dinged by the "USB is really FSK" checkbox several times. This is
the first time I've ever tried AFSK. It works fine if you set it up correctly
(wink wink).

Also, the microphone connection wasn't working between here and the remote, so
FT modes would not TX. However, FT worked just fine if the remote logger was
used instead of the control site logger. So, I ended up with TWO logs. I managed
to copy/paste them together but probably have a bunch of dupes that I don't know
about. But then I may have a couple of new mults that I also don't know about.

Interesting!
