Comments:

Wasn't sure what kind of band conditions to expect from the perspective of a
single dipole cut for 160 and low to the ground, on an all band effort. In
general, 10,15, and 20 were all propagating to the western U.S. and
SA/Caribbean. Never really had an opportunity to gauge EU opening on 15 or 20
Sunday morning since I was off the air more than on due to training of thunder
storms rolling through this area of south side of Clarksville. 15 and 20 were
very noisy when on. Also had to cut Saturday night short at 11:30pm local local
when a small storm cell rolled overhead.
40 was my best band, and surprisingly the quietest band. Working stations
S&P seemed pretty easy, but I struggled to get any kind of run going here. I
would get a spurt of 4-5 callers then dry up for long periods of time. N1MM only
registered 52 Qs from a few runs that exceeded 10 Qs, all on 40m. 80m was
extremely noisy and rough to make contacts Saturday night.
My first operating goal was to reach 300 Qs which was met.
Jim, KE0L, kept me in the chair as always with our friendly competition. I was
always about an hour or so of Qs ahead of him throughout the contest, but I just
could not expand that margin enough for padding when I had to QRT at 4pm local
time on Sunday. I had Jim on Qs at that time, but he had mustered a few more
mults than I and his score had bested mine by a bit. Congrats Jim, and thanks
for keeping me in the chair! 
Goal number 2 as always, is to work all U.S. sections. Missed that goal by 2, ND
and WY. Only worked four VE sections. No KH6 or AK worked or heard, which was
surprising as I usually have my best prop to KH6 on 15m and AK on 40m.
Highlight of the contest was getting called by two EU stations on a 40m short
run. Low lights were the storms that trained through here Saturday morning that
took a bit out of some possible opportunities.
Although it was a bit of a grind at only 26 Qs/hr (horrible rate!), for the
whole contest, I enjoyed playing, and the side competition with Jim made it
interesting.
Log checked, and found four TCGers in log. Thanks for the Qs! Kirk, I heard you
many times, LOUD and clear throughout the contest.
 
Back in the chair again this weekend for NAQP and a bit of the January VHF
contest on Sunday. (6m only)
