Comments:

I started off the contest as unassisted but after 3-4 hours of VERY little EU
coming through at my station, I switched to assisted just to relieve the boredom
and hopefully get a few EU. Other than a few western UK and CT3, the only EU I
got was S5. I got only 3 JAs but found a ZL. I slept after EU sunrise on the
first night and got on for JA at my sunrise. Still not much other than US so
called it an early contest.

Still, I have fun trying out my 4SQR to make sure it still works and even got to
play with a BOG to see if it had any advantage over the 4SQR. The BOG might
help in a noisy weekend but this one was pretty quiet on the 4SQR. Nice to have
options though. My XYL liked the fact that I worked this one remotely and
didn't have to spend the weekend at the station. Since I'm only remoting 1 rig
at the moment, a single band contest works fairly well remotely. The latency
occasionally messed up timing a bit but I can only think of 2-3 contacts that it
cost me repeated sending.

I'll always remember the awesome 160 conditions in 2008 (or around that time)
when 160 sounded like 20M here with deep eastern EU coming through nicely and
75-100 JA but this was NOT that type of weekend. ;-)

Thanks for the Qs,
Bob K5WA
