Comments:
What a contest! Equal amounts of stress and joy. Stress all caused by the
weather -- we have had storms every night for the last week, and a big one hit
the night before the contest. That made the night time during the contest super
stressful. It wasn't as bad but still took me off the air for 2.5 hours.
Always had a screen open watching the radar.
The joy was everything else. Have never had an IARU contest start so well. 15
meters was like everyone has said -- it was even open at the beginning of the
contest. Things got a bit washed out mid day as usual, but as long as one end
of the path was at or near darkness, it was super.
The 20 meter opening to EU from 0500 UTC on was as good as I have ever heard it
from here. And running JA at the same time on 15 all night? Amazing.
The noise was intense until about an hour before sunrise on 80 and 160. Just a
wall. I did try some CQ's on 80 just to see if I could work something rare like
a VE3 and I was a total alligator. And 10 meters just never really opened here.
I got as far as KH6 and CR3 and points south.
Now to deal with the storm cleanup from Friday night ...
